SOcial media

Raised on Friendster,

grew up with Facebook and Twitter,

now endlessly scrolling on TikTok and Instagram every day.

That’s how I’d describe my chronically online life as a millennial.

Fortunately, these lifestyle choices and virtual nurturing have prepared me for the golden age of social media advertising and branding. I want to create content for a client as daring as Duolingo one day (hit me up, Duo). On this page, you’ll find a collection of content I’ve created for brands I’ve worked with.

Wise Malaysia

Wise (formerly known as Transferwise) is a fintech company hailing from London which grew rapidly in Europe and the US before reaching the shores of Southeast Asia. Sending and spending money with Wise costs less (eg. as of 2025, it costs me less than RM10 to send €200 to a friend in Salzburg, Austria).

In a world of e-wallets and other regional competitors such as BigPay and YouTrip, Wise will have to speak the locals' language to win their hearts. That’s precisely what my team designed Wise Malaysia’s content to do: educate and entertain (lots of trendjacking!) the rakyat on money matters around traveling and global transfers.

Tim Hortons MY x Lakar By Mekar

This piece is special to me. I wrote the script on my phone and had it greenlit for production within 2 hours, standing in the very first Tim Hortons outlet in Malaysia (which was still under renovation at the time). Video shot and edited by Dreambitious Studios.

Personal Projects & Unpublished Posts

Here’s a collection of personal projects and drafts that weren't used for one reason or another.

Secret Project #1

In 2023, I decided to conduct a experiment to sharpen my social media content creation and management skills within a simple set of constraints: it has to be an independent account without any connections to my personal account. Due to the informative nature of its content, my platform of choice was Instagram.

Within 6 months, the account gained over 1000 followers organically through the quality of my content and community engagement, without any aid from my personal connections. To this day, nobody knows who’s behind this account (and no one ever will)!

A lot has changed in the social media landscape within the past 2 years. In January 2025, I decided to conduct another social media project with a different set of challenges; the page may be linked to my personal account, but it will be solely focused on a hyper-niche topic, which is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

At the time of writing, I’m 3 months into managing this account. While follower growth is significantly slower, there are more opportunities for me to create bold and irreverent content on a topic I know a lot about. This page will be updated as the experiment continues.
